Saudi Arabia to Celebrate Eidul Fitr on Sunday, March 30
Riyadh — It’s official! Saudi Arabia has announced that Eidul Fitr will be celebrated on Sunday, March 30, 2025, marking the end of the holy month of Ramazan. The Royal Court made the announcement after the Supreme Court confirmed the crescent moon was sighted on Saturday, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Eidul Fitr is one of the most anticipated events in the Muslim calendar, celebrated after a month of fasting and spiritual reflection. Like always, the exact date depends on the sighting of the moon, which is why the announcement feels like a long-awaited signal to start the festivities.
Saudi Arabia isn’t alone — the UAE and Qatar also confirmed that Sunday would be the first day of Eid. Meanwhile, Oman and Iran announced that they’ll celebrate it on Monday.
In Pakistan, the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) had already hinted that there was a good chance the moon would be sighted on Sunday, making Eid likely to fall on March 31.
But this year’s celebrations come with a heavy heart. Across the Muslim world, the joy of Eid is clouded by the ongoing conflict in Gaza, where over 50,000 people — mostly women and children — have lost their lives, according to Gaza’s health ministry. The violence began after Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack on Israel, which left 1,170 people dead, mainly civilians. The international community has criticized Israel’s response as excessive.
Despite the grim reality, Eid remains a time for hope, prayer, and coming together with family and friends. As the world prepares to celebrate, the message of unity and compassion feels more important than ever.
