Beirut — March 28, 2025 — Israel launched its most intense airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs since the 2024 truce with Hezbollah, targeting what it claims was a Hezbollah-linked weapons storage site. The early morning assault sent shockwaves across the city, with explosions rocking the Dahiyeh area — a known Hezbollah stronghold.

Israel says the attack was in response to rockets fired from southern Lebanon into northern Israel. However, Hezbollah denied involvement, calling the airstrikes an unjustified act of aggression.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the strikes as a clear violation of the ceasefire, urging the international community to intervene. France and other global powers have called for calm to avoid further escalation.

This sudden flare-up raises fears of a broader conflict, as tensions between Israel and Hezbollah remain at their highest in years.
