Macron Hits Back at Russian Fury, Says Kremlin Feels Exposed

French President Emmanuel Macron has fired back at Russia's fury, stating that the Kremlin feels exposed. This comes after Russia warned Macron not to threaten it with nuclear rhetoric and drew comparisons with Napoleon's failed conquest of Russia.

*"Russia's Reaction Reveals Its True Intentions"*

Macron's response was prompted by Russia's reaction to his solemn address on Wednesday, where he warned the French nation that Russia was rearming quickly on the back of its invasion of Ukraine. Macron emphasized that Russia could attack more countries if it was not firmly deterred, including with the French nuclear umbrella.

"I know President Putin well. If he's reacting like that, it's because he knows what I said is true," Macron told reporters at an EU summit in Brussels.

*Exposing Russia's Game*

Macron also criticized Russia's intentions, saying that the Kremlin feels exposed because its plans to continue waging war with Europe have been uncovered. Macron stated, "He was probably piqued by the fact we're exposing his game."

*France's Commitment to European Defense*

In addition, Macron addressed U.S. President Donald Trump's comments questioning whether France would come to the U.S.'s rescue if it was attacked. Macron emphasized France's loyalty and faithfulness as an ally, highlighting that France and other European countries had joined U.S. troops in fighting in Afghanistan after 9/11.

"We are loyal and faithful allies," Macron said.

*A New Era of European Defense Cooperation?*

Macron also discussed his offer to extend French nuclear deterrence to the rest of Europe, expressing hopes for cooperation by the end of the first half of 2025. He has invited other EU leaders to a meeting of European army chiefs in Paris to discuss this further.

As the situation continues to unfold, one thing is clear - France and Europe are committed to defending their interests and values in the face of Russian aggression.
